New project coordinator

The Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs has granted NGO support for the coming years. The Finland - South Africa Association has been granted 731 00 euros for 2010-2012 for its Project on Micro Entrepreneurial Training. The share of self financing is 15 %, 132 000 euros.

The long-time project coorditor Leena Marsio will leave her post due to maternity leave and Mr. Iikka Saunamäki will continue the work. 

Iikka has worked on the Department of Financial Management of the Agency for Rural Affairs of Finland. His field of work has mainly concerned different structural subsidies and the public financing of rural entrepreneurship in Finland. As an educational basis he has a Master's degree in social sciences.

Iikka was inspired to apply to the project coordinator post because the task is so interesting and also because of his personal background. Some of his family members have been working with missionary affairs in the Namibian Ovamboland for decades. Furthermore, he was an exchange student in the University of Stellenbosch in 2007. Iikka also wrote his MA thesis on SA.
